As part of our commitment to E-Safety we invited REIM Training Solutions into school to help educate our parents in the practical skills needed to set up parental controls and protect their children online while using their devices.  The workshop also provided knowledge on how to keep children safe while using some of the frequently used social media sites and tips on dealing with cyberbullying.

The workshop combined presentation, step by step demonstration and question and answer session and covered the following topics:

• Computer / internet parental controls
• Using safe search features
• Setting up internet filters
• The “dos” and “don’ts” of social networking
• Cyberbullying
• How to keep children safe while gaming online
• Controversial websites - current sites that may cause concern
• Internet risks e.g. sexting, online gambling, pornography

We were very encouraged by our parental feedback about how valuable the information received was to help them protect their children while online.

Our Primary 7 pupils are very aware of how to stay safe online and designed posters to help encourage all the pupils in the school to stay safe.
