π§΅β¨ After School Sewing Club Week One β¨π§΅
Week one at Sewing Club and the pupils have been busy learning some fantastic new skills!
This week, children learned how to carefully thread a needle and practised the safe and responsible use of sewing needles. They were introduced to two key stitching techniques β the running stitch and the back stitch β building strong foundations for future sewing projects.
Beyond learning practical skills, our young sewers have been developing their handβeye coordination, concentration, and perseverance. It has been wonderful to see their patience and determination grow with every stitch! ππ»βοΈ
Watch this space for their future creations! πͺ‘π§Ά

Our fantastic P6/7 class had a wonderful day stepping back in time as part of our An Gorta MΓ³r (The Great Irish Famine )topic πβ³π₯
First stop was Dungannon Library, where pupils researched what life was like in our local area during the Famine. Using the internet to research photographs and historical records, the class explored schooling, housing, jobs and daily life in the 1800s. It was brilliant to see everyone so engaged and asking such thoughtful questions!
We then travelled up to the Hill of The OβNeill & Ranfurly House Arts and Visitor Centre, where pupils met βMrs McKinleyβ and experienced a powerful, real-life introduction to what it would have been like to enter the workhouse as a child in Victorian times. Through role-play and storytelling, the children gained a deeper understanding of the hardships faced by families in our locality during this period.
It was an eye-opening and memorable experience that really brought our history topic to life. Well done P6/7 for your excellent behaviour, curiosity and thoughtful participation! πβ¨
