Recently the primary 3/4 class were set a challenge to make rescue boats fit to carry five passengers from a sinking boat.  The class discussed how to keep the task 'fair' and decided that each group should receive exactly the same amount of materials when making the boat so that only the design was being tested.  The boats were tested for capacity and movement.  The pupils had a great time building and testing their boats and assessing how their boats could be improved.
