Parents End of Year Letter

25th Jun 2020

Dear Parents,

I hope that you and your families are all still keeping well.

As you know each teacher wrote a personal letter to the boys and girls on their Home Learning Page and I hope you have had the chance to see them. I really enjoyed reading all the letters and I’m sure you did too.

Thank you to any parent who responded to the Home Learning Survey and for the very positive comments. We were all thrown in at the deep end when schools were closed and I know how challenging a time it was for our teachers and so I want to thank them for their work in enabling learning to take place.

We as a staff know you, as parents faced many challenges during this time and a big well done to you all.

A few things which were highlighted in the survey:

  • It was difficult to access books for the AR.
  • I preferred getting small amounts of work each week.
  • Children needed an Interactive Platform like Google Classroom.
  • The need for live videos explaining the tasks to be completed.

At present we are still not completely sure what school life will look like for the start of the 2020/21 school year but as soon as we have received all the guidance from the Department of Education, CCMS and the Education Authority we will keep you informed and if ‘blended learning’ is to be used we will use the feedback from the survey to help us in our teaching.

We are all hoping that the next 2 months will see many improvements and that school life can get back to something near normal. One thing that we are sure of at present is that the Primary 7 class will start back to school on Monday 24th August and the staff will be starting on Monday 17th August. It is hoped then that the rest of the classes will start their school year on Tuesday 1st September.

I will keep in touch and I hope you all enjoy your Summer holidays and again please stay safe and a big thank you again for your continued support.

God bless,

Eunan Mc Ginn
