P2/3 Birds Topic
Through World Around Us we have been investigating different species of birds. We worked in groups and completed fact files about garden birds. We know how important it is to look after wild birds, especially in Winter. We followed a recipe for making fatballs and made our own, placing them outside our classroom window so we can observe all the different species that we are feeding.
We carried out research on migratory birds such as Brent Geese. We also found out about species that are now extinct such as the Dodo Bird which was native to the island of Mauritius.
We enjoyed linking our topic to The Arts where we carried out fabulous art pieces and performed a tropical song 'Yellow Bird'.
In 'Learning Through Play' we made birds and nests from different materials, we composed our own books - fiction and non-fiction. Enjoy looking through a sample of our work!
