Our Week in School

Just a little snippet of some of the activities we have been doing over the last few weeks on the topic of light and dark through the heart ❤️ warming story "Can't You Sleep 😴 Little Bear 🐻" by Martin Waddell. Reception class printed some starry pictures, everyone made a lantern, we created a bear cave in the den, we explored the characters in the story by making our own little bears and playing some barrier games to develop our speaking and listening skills. We extended our vocabulary by focusing on the words lantern and character, developing our understanding of both words. We watched a short film of the story and discussed the difference between the book and moving image. We talked about our own fears of the dark and what we can do when we feel scared, the story also helped us to understand natural sources of light and light we can make ourselves.
